Our Vending Machines
Improved Ice Machines
Compact, lower volume, reliable, relatively inexpensive ice AND water machines are available right now. These newer machines make ice more efficiently than larger, older, high volume factory ice machines, as well as in-store units. The new machines also include sophisticated microprocessors that monitor every detail of the machine’s status and can transmit that data remotely. Previously, such machines did not exist or were far too expensive to place at remote locations. From April 2009 all new Akoona machines distributed by Akoona will be able to also dispense pure, freshly filtered water.

State-of-the-art water filtration system
Superior quality, compact water filtration systems are now available to filter out particles down to .5 microns, which is better than many current ice factories. Previously, such systems required constant maintenance. Now they can run for months without maintenance will also transmit data on water output quality and provide diagnostics data. The filtration system that goes into your machine is the High Flow CSR Twin-MC² System from Everpure, the industry leaders for more than 60 years in the production of commercial grade water filters. The High Flow CSR Twin-MC² System is capable of producing 21,112 gallons of clean, pure water before the filters need replacing.
Quality equal to bottled water
The filtration system in your Akoona machine is so good it produces water that rates alongside bottled water for quality. Not only does it eliminate organic contaminants down to half a micron in size, it will even remove micro particles of asbestos, aluminum, traces of heavy metals such as lead and mercury, as well as excess chlorine – often a problem in tap water. What does this mean? Effectively, you can connect into a relatively poor municipal water supply, and achieve a level of drinkability unheard of until recently. Even if the water in your area is typically discolored and tastes of iron, Akoona will remove the contamination to the extent that you could serve it as table water in a high class restaurant.
Remote machine monitoring
Cellular networking systems using GPRS are now readily available to monitor and control machines 24 hours per day in real time from a central location. This means a huge network of ice vending machines can be operated and monitored as if they were in one central factory. The remote payment systems available with these networks also open opportunities for marketing and selling ice to consumers in creative new ways.
Global energy consciousness
Total energy consumption is important to the world community today. Every bag of ice sold using the Akoona solution consumes less than 20% of the total energy consumed using the outdated distribution system. Super efficient on-site ice production, no refrigerated trucks, no bulk transportation, and no retail freezers mean far less energy consumed overall. The following table shows total energy consumed to sell a 4.4 lb bag of ice to a consumer. The costs shown below are for only the direct usage of energy to manufacture and distribute the ice. When the overhead energy consumption for the factory, trucks and retail store are considered, the energy savings are far more dramatic. See the following table:
| Energy Consumed (kWh per 4.4lb bag sold) | Current Method | Akoona Method |
| Ice Machine (Production) | 0.26 | 0.21 |
| Factory Freezer (Storage) | 0.50 | |
| Truck Fuel (Transportation) | 0.20 | |
| Retail Freezer (Storage) | 0.50 | |
| Loss from Melting | (5%) 0.01 | |
| Total (kWh per 4.4lb bag sold) | 1.46 | 0.22 |
Consumers demand clean ice
Ice made at factories has multiple chances of contamination before it gets to the end user. Imagine the combined contamination possibilities during factory production involving bagging, palletizing, transportation, stocking, and storage. The Akoona solution is far superior. Our ice is produced and dispensed directly to customers by Akoona vending machines with no chance of contamination from external sources.
Akoona machines operate 24 hours per day, 7 days a week, 365 days per year. No need for a store to be open or to wait in line at a cash register. No store freezers that are out of ice because the truck was delayed. Just find an Akoona machine, vend and go.
